your guide

Mike Turner is the founder of Into The Wild Perth.

For 15 years he worked in corporate and government in desk bound, highly stressful and somewhat grueling roles that left him longing for something more. Something that took him out of the monkey mind and allowed him to connect naturally back in with his body.

The question of what was going to do that, what was going to truly light him up, nourish his soul, came through on a hike with a friend in the hills of Perth.

Starting with hiking despite the need for a hip replacement from a motorcycle accident, discovering the potential of his body, and truly feeling at home walking amongst the trees,  lit a fire inside him that only burns brighter with time!

As an experienced trail guide for some years, happily leading anything from short hikes around Perth, to sections of the Bibbulmun, or even heading down south to tackle the Cape to Cape, Mike has a zest for life that is amplified by being in his natural element, a new found home, the bush.

For him, the rewilding and getting even deeper into nature with bushcrafting has been evolving over the past 2 years and continues to ever do so, learning and mastering new skills at every opportunity.

Mike is here to help guide you back into the wild, tapping into the wild that is within all of us, helping individuals and small groups connect in with their innate wisdom for thrival in nature, and discover a new found confidence in their abilities to be at one with themselves.

Short and long distant hikes, overnight camp outs and workshops, knife and saw skills, fire by friction, shelter building, basket weaving, spoon carving, and adventures are all part of the fun you’ll experience at Into The Wild.

Mike values and respects the Whadjuk Noongar people and other Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia as well as the First People of other nations. He values, respects and admires their continuing connection to land and waters, their cultures and elders both past and present.
